Updated Forum Software
I am pleased to report that our forum software has been updated in an effort to cut down on the deluge of spam we have been receiving lately. While the software has an occasional glitch resulting in some very interesting and difficult to read confirmation codes, it is also nearly impossible for spambots to get through.
Should you have an issue with the new software when attempting to register for the forums, simply refresh the registration page to generate a new code which will be much easier to read.

Legilimensia:Morsmordre
Our RPI-MUD is officially opened to the public. Morsmordre is roleplay intensive, so most of the action will be created by you, the players. For the more violently inclined, all combat will be roleplayed. If you want moderated combat, judges are available. It is set in the backdrop of Little Hangleton. The storyline is available on our forums, specifically at this url: http://lumos.mugglenet.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=253845#253845

Don't Go Changing, To Try To Please Me?
This website is being given a make-over. The amazing Oz is now in the process of making a few more tweaks to our new and improved face and then he'll move the layout onto this site's templates. Jack has created remarkable artwork to give choices for skins- dark and eerie or bright and courageous or 1 of the 4 houses. They've been working hard and when you see it, it will show!

Would You Like to Play a Game?
Our forums have been revamped. You can now win an opportunity to tour the freshly completed Knockturn Alley on the game! Plus, a mini-MUD for roleplaying will be available shortly (we’re talking REALLY shortly), allowing you to be in a completed area of our MUD with your friends in real-time!

Forums Disabled
As was noted on the Forum Announcements a couple days ago, the forums have now been closed until July 18th, to allow everyone time to read the book without getting spoilers all over the place. We've already had a couple problems with people posting spoilers simply for the sake of doing so, and they were also posted in the wrong places. The forums will be back up after the weekend, so just sit tight and read your book.

Continuing Database Issues
The database issues from this weekend continue to plague us causing parts of our website to have problems; most noticably, the forums. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working with the Mugglenet team to get things restored to normal as quickly as we can. Thanks for your patience.

Server Move
We apologize for the inconvenience. Earlier today the Project Legilimensia website was transferred. The forums went down for about six hours and are now working again. It seems that everything went smoothly and the team is working hard on the MUD.

Forums Temporarily Down
As posted on the Mugglenet main site, our forums were hacked and deleted earlier. At the moment, there is a team of staff working to get them back up as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Mugglenet MUD Job Openings
Well everyone, a new year. And with the new year comes a host of job openings on the MUD. We're in a bit of a crunch right now, so if you are interested, here are details on what we need if we plan to finish this any time soon :P
apply to: mugglenetmud (at) gmail (dot) (com)
Builders- Builders create the world of the MUD through writing and world building. Advanced writing skills are required. If possible, submit descriptive writing samples with your application in order to make the process easier on Craig and me. Applicants must also be friendly, willing to devote reasonable amounts of time to the project, and ready to work with deadlines. A resume, if applicable, is always appreciated. Please do not attach resumes but rather paste them inside the email if possible.
apply to: mugglenetmud (at) gmail (dot) (com)
Quest Design/World Building- No game is complete without a working set of quests. Individuals applying for this position should be ready to work with the builders and to present new and unique quest designs on a weekly basis. Please submit an example quest, presented with all of the tasks necessary to complete the quest, the premise and background, and the reward for the quest. World builders should also be able to design things such as example book excerpts for the Hogwarts Library, etc.
apply to: mugglenetmud (at) gmail (dot) (com)
C++ Coders: Job title is fairly self explanatory. Applicants should have lots of free time to work on the MUD and must be fluent in C++. We are looking for more than one coder, therefore, applicants should also be ready and willing to work other programmers. Professional resumes are recommended if applicable. All applicants should also include code samples.
apply to: mugglenetmud (at) gmail (dot) (com)
Other jobs will be posted here as they are available. Do not send an application for any job except for the above listed to this email address. All misc. emails will be ignored.

We are pleased to announce...
The creation of the Department of Minor Jobs and Services. Or so I like to call it. This Department is part of the growing MUD network, and will allow numerous people to participate in the development of the MUD. Work and rewards will be available only on the Project Legilimensia Forums, located here.
Thank you all for your continuing interest,
Artemis

Forums up.. Finally
The Project Legilimensia forums are finally completed, after much difficulty.. Or at least we think they're complete. Now, you all have a place to voice off about the MUD, hopefully in a good way. If you have *Any* problems with the forums, please feel free to send me a message via the forums and I'll get around to helping you or fixing the problem.

MUD Update...
Sorry guys, having trouble with getting the forums set up properly. Hopefully our friendly webmaster will have it sorted out soon.
In the mean time, we're still at work! This week we've worked on updating the world to use wizarding currency: Sickles and Galleons. We may or may not use Knuts, as this would increase the complications of making purchases for all of you guys :) But yes. I'm sitting in Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor right now. Diagon Alley is coming along, and nearing completion.

Forums Almost Completed..
Hey all. Just checking in with my update for the day. I'm doing some last minute touches on the new Project Legilimensia Forums. I thought I'd take the two seconds to highlight a particular question ask of me:
Will you be adding other languages, say, parseltongue?
Interestingly enough, I just put the final touches on the parseltongue language last week. ;) Might be a few other languages for you guys to find too...

A Screenshot
The best part of MUD's is having more than just straight grey text. Most MUD's are really quite colourful. So here is a smaller peek at the game, but in full colour :)
And to correct Aniline... Hogwarts has 200 rooms on the first two floors. It just starts at room number 1000 :P But yes, here's your screenshot...

A Quick Preview
For your enjoyment, I have made a short log of a quick walk around Hogwarts. You'll get a little glimse of the entrance hall and kitchens. You might even get to see Artemis...
I had to edit out the little maps that would appear after each room description because they didn't line up right when it was converted to html.
To see the log, you'll have to click on "read more" to get the full story.
Remember this is just a sample. There is a lot more to a MUD than just this. Think of this as a screen shot in a video game.

Periodic Progress Update
Hey everyone, its been a little while, and the MUD is moving along. Our new staff and I are currently overhauling Hogwarts, and installing a new weather system to give a few improvements to the current system. In other news, Diagon Alley is nearing completion, and a new discussion board will be going up soon to enable you all to discuss the game as you see fit. Ta ta for now guys, have a good day :)

Builder Applications
Thank you all for sending in your builder applications. At this point, my ability to process them is completely filled. I have hired a half dozen builders, and I intend to work another half dozen to dozen in over the next month. If you didn't get hired, I am retaining all of your applications for my continued hiring, so no need to resubmit them. Thanks to all of you that have participated, and congratulations to those that are now working with us. And to clear up a point, there will be many more opportunities to earn a slot on the beta. And I won't yet tell you how people are selected for the beta outside of that ;)

Help us Name the MUD!
Right now, the MUD doesn't have a final name. Project Legilimensia is the Mugglenet Project name, but we need a name for the finished product. Want to help? Here's what you need to do:
-Make a list of up to 5 (five) names that you believe the MUD should have.
-Send them to namecontest at lumos dot mugglenet dot com along with your name and return email address.
The Winner will receive a reserved spot on the beta test team. Good luck!

Beta Testing Clarifications
I'm sorry, I guess I made the Beta testing unclear. Here's the deal:
-When the game is developed sufficiently, a message will be posted here with an email address to send your name to. Approximately 150 people will be randomly chosen to test the game for a period of 2 weeks.
-If you are interested in earning a guaranteed spot on the beta testing team, you can do things such as compete in our newest participation event, as seen above.

A few clarifications...
The MUD is still under development, as many of you may know. I also thought I'd address a few of the most common questions right here with links to the ever useful FAQ:
When will the MUD be open for playing?
What is a MUD?
Is the game free?
Those are three of the most frequently ask questions, so I'll leave those for you now :)
The Ministry wishes you a nice day.

Welcome to the MUD Homepage
Well, we've finally gotten our act together and gotten a decent webpage up. Here, you can find all the information you want on the MUD. If you have any questions, try looking at the FAQ and see if your question is in there. If you have any new questions, feel free to send them to faq at lumos dot mugglenet dot com.
Cheers,
Artemis

New News System
Hey all, in addition to the new layout and the new news system, we also have an FAQ database. I'll be updating the links to reflect that change shortly. Also, please note that the previous posts were lost when we did the change. I'm working to get those back and will have you informed of the change when I get the opportunity. Thank you very much for your interest in Project Legilimensia!
