Okay, so here's the delio guys. I've been really busy with school lately, and I'm in the middle of writing several rooms in the MUD. The problem is that I need to do some research that I don't really have the time to do.

This is where you all come in. If you guys would do some research for me, I will give you anywhere from 30 to 200 points, depending on the quality of the research, amount and effort. Also, there's a sneak peek at what I'm using your research for. Which means you get a preview of parts of the MUD! And that's always fun!

So what do I need researched? I need to find if there are any connections from European mythology or folklore between the four seasons and different animals. Even things like different animals connected to different holidays in the certain seasons or traditional parts of the season. Like connecting something to fall because the animal's connected to the harvest or something. The only thing I ask is that you cite where you got your information from. If it's from a website, post a link to the page.

Post your findings here so that we don't get double entries. I won't give points for repeat entries, unless circumstances dictate otherwise, so be sure to check in to see what everyone else has found! Any other questions, feel free to put here or PM me. I will allow three weeks for this contest, so on Friday, March 6 at midnight, it will be over.

Thanks guys! Hope this is a fun and happy hunting!

The article I linked says that in different areas, different animals were associated with the seasons, mostly about when they would start and end. (Which is where Groundhog's Day came from)

I've got to go to bed now, but I'll look some more tomorrow!

this is chinese mythology:

I'll do some more poking around for you though.

PS:
Horse=war (celtic)
Deer = arts/Moon (celtic/North american)

Okay, this place says that robins are associated with spring, frogs with summer, geese with fall, arctic hare with winter.

I found this on Google Books:
http://books.google.com/books?id=4qD_ysNel2AC&pg=PA13&lpg=PA13&dq=native+american+seasonal+animals&source=bl&ots=IAIoTWzhNR&sig=3G9pxlTkY0SFnNsx_0HsWRrzmd8&hl=en&ei=xRaiSfyMD9W5twedlaWSDQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=2&ct=result#PPA21,M1

It says that Native Americans associated winter with the white buffalo, spring with the golden eagle, and I'm going to assume that the coyote was associated with the summer, and the grizzly bear with the fall. Unfortunately, it's just a preview, and it only shows the first two animals.

Oh, and the winner of the contest is Damion. Congratulations Damion! In addition to the points that you've won, I'll be sending you my first drafts of the fountains that I'm using the information to write, probably throughout the week. Again, congratulations!
