Adčle Mélanie Lucille Reynell
Name: Adčle Mélanie Lucille Reynell, born De Lusignan,
Family Ties: Andre Pierre Bellaphane Reynell’s wife, Art’s mother, Agatha Lusigny’s ward
Gender: Female
Date of birth: 30 avril 1950
Short Description: A tall, full-lipped, buxom woman
Long Description: A tall, buxom woman looks down at everyone as her full, pretty lips curl in a sneer.
Physical Description: A stunning pair of green eyes are half-obscured by heavy eyelids, giving off an air of boredom. The face around them is pretty, with full, rosy lips; however they are distorted into a sneer. Her black hair is always tighly held into a complicated bun, with a couple of free locks artistically falling out, in a faux air of unconcern to apparences. Likewise, her buxom silhouette is very pleasant to the eye; but her stiff back and slightly craned neck, as she looks everyone down, unbalance the general harmony.
Personality Description: Adčle has two main personality traits : her haughtiness and secretiveness. For the first, it’s pretty straightforward: she’s incredibly proud to be of French origin. Hence, she insists on the accent in «Adčle» and on using French words every so often, to remind everyone of who she is. However, she didn’t try to teach French to her children or to her husband. This stems from the same source as her secretiveness: her secret shame. Indeed, even her aloof attitude is mainly a way to keep away people from the truth.
The Lusignan are somewhat known in French Muggle’s lore for being supposedly descended from Mélusine, a half-woman, half-serpent fay. This is the edited version of a truth well know in the French wizarding world : the Lusignan’s family was founded by a female Parselmouth. The gift still features strongly in the lineage and many a child shows it ; and woes betide to the one who disgraces the family by not displaying it, for they are not better than Squibs in their kin’s eyes.
This was the case of Adčle, as was discovered when she turned 2. From the moment she discovered her status as a "family disgrace", Adčle has lived in fear of someone discovering her secret. She’s never even mentioned this to her husband, so proud was he to marry into the De Lusignan family. She didn’t try to teach French to any member of her family for fear of them contacting the French De Lusignan and learning the truth. Even with their ignorance of the tongue, she stills fear some English-speaking Lusignan will come to learn of her marriage and divulge the truth to her new family.
However, despite the risks of her secret getting uncovered because of this, Adčle takes care of her aged relative, Agatha. Agatha is the only one Adčle shows tenderness to: while she loves her children and husband, she acts distant to them, too afraid of their unearthing the truth. In fact, with every year that pass away, Adčle is becoming more and more secretive, bordering on paranoia and taking small, casual comments as taunts, while her lies are growing wilder and more numerous.
Character History: As is the case with every non-Parselmouth Lusignan, Adčle was written off the family tree and sent away to hide the shameful girl from the rest of the French pureblood wizards. One century and a half ago, a Squib had been born to the Lusignan and hastily removed from the family tree, her name changed to Agatha Lusigny. Now this distant, disregarded cousin was called upon to take care of the new disgrace to the family name. Agatha Lusigny was a spinster and more than welcomed the equally disregarded child, who adopted her new name of Lusigny.
Adčle lived a quiet, happy childhood in the little Muggle village “Aunt Agatha” inhabited, playing with the Muggle children. She had so good friends (who called her Adela) and was so dotted upon by her aunt, that Adčle never had an occasion to express fear or anger and so never did accidental magic. So, her relative ended up thinking Adčle was a Squib like her.
In fact, the old lady hoped Adčle wouldn’t leave her to go to Hogwarts; she didn’t want to be alone again, and she believed Adčle’s life would be more happy living here among Muggles without knowing of wizards, magic or prejudices.
The summer after Adčle had turned eleven, she received her letter. The letter was a forebearer of doom, beginning with the name on it: regardless of the supposed change of names, Adčle's birth and change of residence had been registered at Hogwarts under "De Lusignan". Adčle, having no memory of any family name other than Lusigny, asked her "aunt" about this and the old lady had to explain her own hurtful past to the distraught girl.
Agatha let her go, but told her never to forget her or the happy life she had live with her. However, Adčle was Sorted into Slytherin. She was soon swamped with ideas of pureblood, purity and Muggle-hating. Soon, Adčle wrote to her true family, finding the address into a wizarding Who’s Who. The response came swiftly, snapping : as a disgrace to the family’s name, she was never to write, Floo or otherwise contact the ‘true’ De Lusignan.
So she curled up in her shell, confiding sparingly to her few friends. She hid to all the fact her only relative in England was a Squib. Mostly she studied to make up for her “lack” of talent and all those years of Muggle-playing. She also started to cultivate an air of haughtiness: by keeping people away, she kept them for discovering her secret and she was considered a true, pure-blood Slytherin who looks anyone else down. After the same fashion, she mentioned her pureblood, French origins, but remains vague in the details, letting whispers of her parents’ eloping grew into a fantastic, romantized story.
As she blossomed into a very beautiful young lady, she was much courted for her looks and intelligence, as well as for her blood-purity where Slytherin boys were concerned. At first, wary of the attention because of her secret, she soon realized that marrying a good, pureblood name was the best way to cover up for the French name she was “demeaning”.
Soon after her Hogwarts years, she married one of her suitors in Hogwarts, Andre Pierre Bellaphane Reynell, who was only one year older than her. And she came to live in his family’s mansion in Little Hangleton. There, her haughtiness and use of French words soon coined her as a typical, “stuck-up” Reynell, and she was left in peace with her secret.
Agatha’s health had degraded around the time Adčle turned sixteen. To this day, Adčle still cares for her and often Apparates to her small house, bringing small gifts and treats. However, she’s lying to her about her life at Little Hangleton, just like she’s lying to her husband about her frequent bouts of absence. As is frequent, more lies are invented to cover previous lies, until even Adčle has difficulties keeping tracks of things.
Side Note
Adčle is the French form of Adela, which, according to Behinthename.com, means 'noble', from a Frankish root. It's also the name of a daughter of William the Conqueror, so befits someone caught between France and England.
Mélanie means the black one, and Lucille the luminous one, in reference respectively to her hair and complexion.
Agatha means ‘good, gentle’ in Ancient Greek. Can she, if someone’s interested, become a character in the Mud? Either she had always lived in Little or Great Hangleton, or Adčle has had her relocated closer to her new home. |

Brigitte Reynell
Name: Brigitte
Gender: female
Birthday: January 17, age 19
Short Description: A tall, black haired girl with green eyes
Physical Description: A tall and lean young woman with very straight, raven-colored, mid-back length hair stands before you. She has stunning, large, emerald eyes, peeking out from beneath sweeping bangs, and one corner of her mouth is slightly upturned. Her figure is of an hourglass shape with her waist significantly smaller than both her hips and chest.
Personality Description: Brigitte is, in most cases, a bright witch who, of all of her siblings, can most relate to Madide. She is an avid reader who is the proud owner of a very large collection of books and manuscripts. Every once in a while, those around her will see her open up and what they find is someone who is incredibly fun to be around. These occasions are rare, however, and most of the time you will find her curled up under a tree, just thinking or reading. She also has a mild interest in learning the French language and has picked up a number of short phrases from her favorite brother, Madide. Brigitte is generally open-minded about things and has no large problems with members of her family because, for the most part, she stays out of everyone’s way.
Character History: Brigitte grew up in Little Hangleton with her four brothers and one sister. She never really questioned the ideas that her parents were putting into her head about being pureblood until she went to Hogwarts. Unlike the rest of her family, she was sorted into Hufflepuff. For a long while, she was looked down upon by the rest of her family and, sometimes, even herself. She felt as though she wasn’t a true Reynell. Midway through her third year, she began to realize that being unique was nothing to be ashamed of. Around this same time, she started truly questioning her parents’ pureblood views. She made friends with a number of Muggleborns and did not think that they or their parents need be pitied. She has kept her opinions to herself, however, preferring not to be a nuisance.
Brigitte’s favorite subject was always Herbology, seeing as she had a real knack for magical plant care. She currently keeps a garden on a small plot of land that her father gave to her. She always had trouble at Transfiguration, on the other hand, and never managed to transfigure anything larger than a teapot. During her later years at Hogwarts, her good looks began to show, making her the interest of many a Hogwart’s boy. |

Tristan Etienne Reynell
First name: Tristan Etienne Reynell
Gender: Male
Date of birth: 13 March (28)
Short Description: A tall, light-haired man with dark skin and
Physical Description: Tristan stands an easy six foot six, although appears shorter due to his dismal posture. His smile is easy, but insincere. Nappy, strawberry-blond hair is trimmed neatly to his head, and his eyes are china blue. His features are strong, with a set jaw and sculpted cheekbones. He has light caramel skin stretched over corded muscle. His arms are well defined, and his build is strong without being overly large.
Personality Description: Tristan is best taken in small doses. He switches from infuriatingly arrogant, proud, and argumentative to endearingly arrogant, proud, and arguementative. He is very stubborn and refuses to give up, or let anyone in his presence give up. He has a nasty habit of forcing his opinions onto those around him, but never does it without their best interests at heart. Twenty-eight years have taught him when to keep his mouth shut, but he still has trouble at times. He’s very passionate about everything he does, and throws himself headfirst into everything. His trust isn’t given easily, and he can have a bit of trouble making friends, but the ones he does make earn his whole-hearted support.
Character History: Tristan’s history starts with the time following his mother’s last year at Hogwarts. When Adéle was searching for a husband to cover-up her past, Andre wasn’t her only choice. In fact, he was second to another man who was just as charming, but with a higher social standing and a name with more prestige. This man was the primary focus of Adčle’s seductions, and he fell for her completely and quickly. At least, he did until he discovered she was playing him against Andre, and what her scheme was. He left the moment he found out, severing the relationship as quickly and cleanly as possible and telling Adčle to kindly not contact him, unless she wanted Andre (or anyone else) to be told exactly what she was up to.
Unfortunately for Adčle, she made an unpleasant discovery of her own at the same time. She was pregnant, and not certain who the father was. When she tried to use the pregnancy against her jaded suitor, he laughed and told her to go ahead and tell anyone; it would hurt her far more that it would him. So, she turned to Andre, and they opted for a quick wedding. To Adčle’s delight, no one seemed suspicious of the quick wedding, as they had been courting for almost a year, and no one knew about her plans, or if Andre did, he didn’t show it.
Tristan was born a few weeks shy of nine months after his parent’s wedding day, and both of them claimed he was simply premature. Adčle was startled (although not completely surprised) when his hair began to grow in curly, and a strawberry-blonde shade at that, and his skin tanner than either hers or her husband’s. After a brief shock, Adčle insisted on naming him after her father, of who her son was ‘a mirror image’. She spent the first few weeks of Tristan’s life trying desperately to sort out the lies to explain the fact her child looked nothing like his ‘father’. These (it runs in his mother’s family, he has his father’s eyes/nose/fingers, etc) were the stories he would grow up believing, and that would be told to anyone who asked.
It was probably the resemblance he had to his younger siblings that kept Tristan (and Andre) from questioning his parentage, at least for a while. This was also the reason that the oldest Reynell developed a strong protective streak over his younger siblings that could get quite aggravating. He firmly believes that he can tease and torment them, but heaven help anyone else that does.
Beside his relationship with his siblings, Tristan didn’t have many friends before entering Hogwarts. He was more or less told taught the other children in the village were below him, and they were told that his family was a bunch of stuck-up supremacists, so he didn’t interact with them much. When he entered Hogwarts, he was shockingly sorted into Gryffindor. Shocked, he spent the first half of the school year agonizing over how he would tell his parents, or trying to decide the best way to keep it from his family as long as possible. Of course, when he arrived home for Christmas vacation, he robes were discovered, and he spent the majority of the holiday hiding in his room. This was the start of his suspicions about his parents. Even though he loved and wanted to please them, he began to feel mildly detached from them as the years went on.
He spent the start of his summer vacation out of the manor, avoiding his parents because he felt they were disappointed in him, especially Adčle. A few weeks into it, he stumbled onto a group of Muggle children from the village playing football. He had nothing better to do, so he stood by and watched for a few minutes. Eventually one of the other children noticed him, and informed him that they didn’t want any of ‘his kind’ near them, and picked a fight that Tristan quickly won. Instead of getting angry, the other boys ordered Tristan into the losing boy’s now-empty position. This was Tristan’s first encounter with Muggles his own age, and he was completely befuddled when they managed to beat him every time. The defeat (the first in his short life) drove him to come back the next day, and then the next, and so on. At first, he just wanted to prove to himself that he could win, but slowly he began to become friends with them. As hard as he looked, he couldn’t find anything about them that should be pitied or shunned. Of course, he wasn’t stupid enough to mention this to his parents, and kept this friendships as secret as he possibly could.
He spent a few more years at Hogwarts, learning all that he could and making a few close friends while keeping the others at bay. He wasn’t very popular in his own house due to the rivalry between his house and his siblings’ and his short temper. A Beater position earned him some grudging respect, but his closest friends were the Muggles he had back in Little Hangleton. The summer before his sixth year, one of his friends was in an accident, and rushed to the nearest Muggle hospital, where he died within a few hours of some injuries Muggle medicine couldn’t handle, but to wizards could be mended with the flick of a wand. Tristan replaced grief with fury when he realized this, and fit it together with his family’s idea of separate the two races further. He couldn’t understand why wizards didn’t at least try to help Muggles, and he believed strongly that there was nothing to be pitied about them. Wizards just had a natural advantage, and he almost began to see magic as a crutch. He did managed to keep his opinions to himself when he realized that the best way to fix this problem would be to work from the inside out. If he could become head of the SDS, he could at least try to fix things. So, he kept his mouth shut and poured himself into his studies, trying to become the best. He began researching his family history, trying to find sympathetic relatives. Knowing his mother was of an old, prestigious pureblood family, he dug into her history as well, searching for anyone that might share his opinions. It didn’t take long for him to realize that these people probably would have been thrown out of the family by now, and slowly managed to get an idea of exactly why his mother never took them to visit. While he didn’t know what exactly had happened, he eventually gathered a fairly good idea. This lead him to work backwards, thinking of all the lies his mother had told, and slowly turned this back to himself. He remembered contradictions, and took a long look in the mirror. He began writing his mother’s old schoolmates, asking if they remembered who she had fancied around the time of his birth, mentioning something about a photograph with a dark man with light hair, and eventually got a small list of candidates. But, instead of finishing the job and tracking them down, he threw the names, letters, and photo clippings into a box, locked it, and stuffed it into the bottom of his trunk. It’s still sitting in a corner of his closet, out of sight and out of mind. Occasionally, he takes it out and considers finding these men, but always returns it to its dusty corner.
Tristan graduated Hogwarts with a boastful number of NEWTs, and promptly began training to be a healer. At twenty-eight, he is on staff at ST. Mungo’s. |

Lonas Percivus Reynell
First name: Lonas Percivus Raynell
Gender: Male
Date of birth: June 16th , 26 years old (son)
Short Description: A tall, handsome man with sliver tinged blond hair
Physical Description: A tall handome man with steely pale blue eyes, and a well-defined chin stands before you. His hair, which is mid-long, is very light and wispy, played by even the slightest breeze. The color of his hair makes him look old, but his face is that of a youthful twenty-something.
Personality Description: Lonas is fairly recluse, and though he enjoys being sociable, it is mostly among friends. He is more likely to respond to hostility with a sarcastic retort, but is more then able to duel when necessary. Unfortunately, due to his sharp tongue, it usually is. His spell class of choice is transfiguration, and any fight he wins is likely to be because the opponent is in a state where he/she can no longer carry a wand. No slouch in potions either, Lonas’ real weakness is his charms, which even at Hogwarts he denounced as a “waste of time and energy”.
Character History: Lonas’ odd hair color was the result of a failed aging charm he tried to use on an enemy at hogwarts. The spell backfired, and Lonas’ hair turn completely gray. The nurse was only able to fix it so that half the hair grew back blond, and half a silvery tinge. Lonas has made peace with this, but his borthers are likely to bring it up at parties every so often. Lonas graduated from hogwarts with high NEWTs, but as of yet is unemployed. He is hoping to secure his father’s position as head of the SDS. Lonas had fairly good relationships with his brothers and sisters, save a few occasions where he was pushed over the edge and they wound up as toads.

Fiona Reynell
First Name: Fiona
Gender: Female
Date of Birth: March 8; 12 years old
Short description: A gaunt black-haired girl
Physical Description: Wavy black hair falls to her shoulder blades that jut out of her back oddly. She is very thin, and has an almost vulture-like appearance. Her eyes are brown, and glare out from under a mess of bangs on her forehead, and her full, rosy lips are usually drawn in a pout.
Personality Description: Fiona is a very spoiled girl. She likes to get her way all the time, and pouts whether or not she does. Her older brothers are her idols and she looks up to them for guidance when they have time for it. She is very talented at Quidditch, which she has played since she could ride a broom, and is also showing promise in her ability to perform charms. However, she’s only in her second year of Hogwarts, and is in Slytherin. She’s not on the Slytherin Quidditch team.
Character History: Fiona received all the primary education that the rest of her siblings did, but her parents noticed that she excelled at Quidditch when she started to play. They let her play with other pureblood children in their neighborhood. Her parents have always given her everything she ever wanted. She hasn’t made many friends in her life because of her spoiled disposition. She’s fine with this because she always had her toys to play with. However, boys are starting to become an issue, as she is a preteen. |

Madide Reynell
First name: Madide
Gender: Male
Date of birth: 20th of November, 17 years old
Short Description: Ex: A tall, blonde, young man with blue-green eyes.
Physical Description: A slim young man standing rather tall for his age. He has a medium skin-tone contrasting his blonde hair. Worn to the back and cut just below the ears with a liberal look. His blue-green eyes reflect with youthful curiosity.
Personality Description: He is a very determined scholar of life, questioning everything for its reason and working. He likes to talk to people, but enjoys the solitary moments with a good book more then often. Being in his late teens he starts to interest himself more in the practical applications of his studies and abilities.
Unlike his mother he is proud of his background, this is also the main reason for their silent hostility between them. Secretively learning French at a fast rate he discovers more and more about the family history.
Character History: From childhood on Madide showed more cunning then strength. Loved by his mother and father, he received a pureblood view of life. After being invited to Hogwarts and finding out more about his roots, his mother became suspicious of him. He now knows more about her then he is letting go, which suits his ambitions. Still his mother shows her affection in her usual weird way, by calling him with the nickname Madine.
Sorted into Slytherin like his parents he made a respectful impression. Although not being the most attractive in the earlier years, he made quite a network of friends for himself. Now being rather handsome and having a good opportunity to make it politically far. respect comes from the strangest corners. Still some teachers warn others about Madide's growing influence and charismatic effect becoming a future force to reckon with. |

Art Reynell
First name: Art
Gender: Male
Date of birth: January 1st; 14
Short Description: A tall dark haired boy.
Physical Description: A boy in his early teens with wavy black hair that falls just short of his shoulder stands before you. His hair is always in the way of his piercing, icy-blue eyes. His skin is dark, almost Italian skin. He is tall for his age and is pretty big, not obese. He has broad shoulders and a broad chest which starts to get small as it reaches his waist. He looks very fit and you suspect he does athletics, and his jaw and chin are fairly big as well. He is extremely handsome and almost has an aura of wisdom or sophistication. His hands are look rough, maybe from outside work.
Personality Description: He is pretty out-spoken and tells it as it is. He is not afraid to boasts or say what he thinks (which gets him in trouble a lot). He can be nice when he wants to but that's very rare but he is on okay guy. He is pretty athletic and likes to get down and dirty, most of the time he is outside exploring or just having fun. But he does have an intellectual side of him also, he loves to read, anything he can get really. He does have his prejudices as he is a Reynell, but he does at least try to not show it as much, but sometimes it does just pop out of his mouth, can you blame him? He is pretty loyal to his true friends and is pretty brave when faced with any sort of threat but if your not one of his friends you can pretty much just beat it.
Character History: Art was born and raised in Little Hangleton. Throughout his pre-Hogwarts years, he was tutored in philosophy, theory of magic, History, and Government (MoM), along with other boring Muggle studies such as arithmetic, English and French. It wasn't aloud for him to be taught actual spells let alone use them so he was stuck with theory. As he grew up he became friends with other wizarding children in Little Hangleton, as well as a few Muggles which were NOT tolerated in his house hold. He grew up thinking there was something wrong with Muggles, as if they were diseased, but he still had a slight pity for them wishing that every Muggle could be a wizard. His parents spoiled him but still disciplined him when he did wrong. But he taught himself how to lie (very well in fact) and how to slip his way out of situations that he shouldn't be in. In a way it seemed as if his father was putting him in these situations, teaching him secretively how to be a great politician or something of the sort. As he entered his teen years, girls happened. He started flirting with every beautiful girl he met, muggles also. He went through puberty and began to get very moody with his parents acting out and trying to get attention from anyone who would watch, and that's where he is now. |
