Since there is combat, players kill have hp, but what about a type of mp or mana?
Since there is combat, players kill have hp, but what about a type of mp or mana? Without mp in the system, there wouldn't be a limit to the spells you can cast. If there is mp, is there a way to regenerate it faster? Does it regen automatically over time? Would different spells cost different amounts of mp (lumos just costs a few, but a huge fireball costs a ton)?

Since there is combat, players kill have hp, but what about a type of mp or mana?

Will other players be able to loot your corpse (thieves)?
In Discworld MUD, when you died, you became a ghost until you found someone to give you a raise or a resurrect from priests, or if you went to certain rooms in the game. Then you would have to go find your body to get your stuff back. Sometimes you needed help from a high level player to help get your stuff back from dangerous areas. Ok, would other players be able to loot your corpse (thieves)? Would they be able to recover your inventory for you? Also, would you have to relearn spells (maybe not lose any spell casting abilities, but have to re-commit it to memory or something), since you mention having someone else teleport you there? Wouldn't you be able to teleport (apparate) yourself there?

Ok, how long would it take to regenerate a 'karn'?
I like how lives (or karns) regenerate. In Disworld MUD, you have to buy extra lives. You started out with 7+1 (seven plus the one you are using). If you got low, you had to go to a well and toss a Royal or more (like a hundred dollar coin) into this well. The cost for one life depended on how many times youhave died and how many lives you had left. Another way was a quest involving chasing around an egg and hugging it (a very odd way to get lives...). If you ran out of lives, you had to refresh your character and start over. (My witch character has died 22 times and has 3 lives left.) Ok, how long would it take to regenerate a 'karn'? Would it take less time or more time as you gain levels? Would the number of 'karns' you currently have affect how fast they regenerate?

What if someone doesn't want to kill players?
It's interesting how you have set up playerkilling. What if someone doesn't want to become 'active'? What if they just want to go through the game as a non-pk, just killing npcs?

What are the Character Name Rules?
By the way, I like that characters from the books are unplayable. Too many people would want to be the same character (just look at all the people with similar names in the chat rooms). On this note, since player characters are saved, would the characters be deleted if they aren't played for a while (like 60 times their age or something), making that character's name available for someone else to use?

As for sorting, you said that a staff member had to sort people.
As for sorting, you said that a staff member had to sort people. There is probably a way to create the Sorting Hat in the MUD and let it sort them. Maybe when the character first enters Hogwarts, they go to the Sorting Hat. It tells a bit about the Houses to the player, then asks the player a series of questions (maybe multiple choice questions). Based on their answers, they get sorted into a house. It just seems like a pain for staff to go through sorting everyone (especially if you get lots of people playing). And it's a bit of an inconvenience for the player to have to wait around for a staff, especially if they completed Hogwarts fairly quickly and just want to graduate.

Gameplay

I like how you have to start over to become a Werewolf or Animagi.
I like how you have to start over to become a Werewolf or Animagi. It gives players a chance to get a feel for the game before they can get the special and unique abilities. (Kinda like a New Game Plus on FFX-2). As a Werewolf, would you have to take a wolfsbane potion before the full moon every time? Would the player lose control of their character for a short time if they didn't take the potion? Are there any other types of special abilities to choose from besides Werewolf and Animagi? Maybe like vampire or something?

Leveling

Is there something beyond level 91?
I noticed that you set a cap on the number of levels a character can advance to (91 I think you said). So once you get to level 91, are you just done (besides starting over)? Or is there something beyond level 91?

Can you advance skills outside of the spell systems though?
The spell system sounds great. I was wondering if you can advance skills outside of the spell systems though? You mentioned players can fight like muggles, so would you have fighting type of skills they can advance as well?
